Terms of Participation and Registration

Participation in the school is free of charge. Participation includes free handout materials, school events and coffee breaks. Travel expenses, accommodation and meals are paid by the participants or their institutions.

The organizing committee will provide a limited number of grants for accommodation of participants of the school. Grants will cover accommodation at economy class rooms during the school.

The application for participation includes personal data, a statement of interest, and brief resume. Please prepare your application carefully. The program committee will not consider incomplete applications.

Try to justify your intent to participate in the school: describe how the school is related to your education and research interests or industry experience in the statement of interest. Please indicate your personal and contact details, college or university name and/or name of your employer. If you are a student, please indicate your specialization and grade. If you are a graduate or have a degree indicate your specialization and thesis title. Describe briefly your professional, educational, research and teaching experience in the field of IT and especially in area of information retrieval. List your publications if any. Specify your English language proficiency level and appropriate certificates if any. If you have participated in any event similar to RuSSIR indicate it in your resume. The resume should not exceed two pages. If your resume is available online you can indicate URL in the 'Home page' field.

Please attach a letter of recommendation from your scientific advisor or senior colleague (referee must specify his/her full name, affiliation, position, email address, and phone number). Otherwise, indicate in 'Notes' who can provide a reference for upon request of the program committee. Add any additional information into 'Notes' if necessary.

Notify if you are planning to take part in the Young Scientists Conference. Papers for the YSC conference and any additional documents for your RuSSIR application can be submitted via "Private Office" after the registration procedure. The provided email address will be used for the access to the "Private Office".

Applications for participation will be accepted until June 10, 2010 21:00 GMT. Application forms for participation and grants will be considered by the program committee of the school. Papers accepted for the Young Scientists Conference will have considerable importance for the decision. Other conditions being equal, the applicants who have not participated in previous RuSSIRs possess advantage. Results of the selection process will be announced by June 24 July 7, 2010. It is the participant's responsibility to get a Russian visa if needed. For visa support letters, please send a request to organizing committee, school[at]romip[dot]ru.

The participants are supposed to stay for the whole period of the school. By submitting an application, applicants agree to the school rules and conditions.
