GENERAL INFORMATION

School: 15-19 August 2011

The school will be open to about 150 pre-selected qualified and motivated candidates. Advanced graduate and PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, academic and industrial researchers and developers are encouraged to apply. The candidates selected by the program committee according to the information provided during the application procedure will be then invited for the registration.

School fee and financial support


The school fee amounting 210 Euro (8400 Rub) is to be paid by the accepted candidate during the registration unless she/he was granted a free participation. The amount includes all courses, handout materials, coffee/tea breaks, social events (welcome party, main party and sport event).

The school provides a limited number of grants covering participation only or participation and accommodation. The preference in distributing the grants will be given to undergraduate and PhD students.

Participation grants cover the school fee only, travel expenses, accommodation and meals to be paid by the participants or their organizations. Accommodation grants cover accommodation in economy class rooms during the school.

Young Scientists Conference


The Russian Young Scientists Conference in Information Retrieval (YSC) is organized within the school. The school program includes YSC poster session where every student presents her/his current research and discusses it with lecturers and peers.


TERMS OF APPLICATION


All applications are to be submitted via the application form.

An applicant submits her/his CV, a motivation statement and a poster presenting her/his ongoing or completed research project for the Young Scientists Conference. Both research results published before and works in progress are accepted. Graduate students are encouraged to present their current or completed term or diploma projects. In case the research has been completed and the results have not been published yet, the applicants are encouraged to submit a full paper along with a poster. The Young Scientist Conference program committee will review the papers submitted and those accepted will be published in the Proceedings of the Young Scientist Conference and on the school website. A limited number of selected papers will also be published in The Computer Tools in Education Journal (in Russian), recognized by Higher Attestation Commission (VAK). The papers will be published in English. The authors of full papers have a priority during school participants selection.

Each applicant is strongly encouraged to submit a reference letter from her/his scientific advisor or a senior colleague (referee must provide her/his full name, affiliation, position, email address, and phone number). Otherwise, please indicate in 'Notes' the contacts of potential referees who can provide a reference on request.

If you want to apply for a grant, please indicate this within the application and describe the reasons why you need the financial support.

The applicants will be informed of the committee's decision regarding participation, full paper acceptance (if submitted) and availability of financial support by 25 May 2011.


POSTER AND FULL PAPER SUBMISSION


There are two types of submissions to YSC: posters and full papers. Poster submission is required from every school applicant. The poster is to be written in English and submitted in printable pdf format.
Full paper is optional. However, it gives the author a priority to be admitted with other conditions being equal. Full papers are accepted in English and submitted via the Private Office. Full papers are to be formatted according to the template provided. The paper should not exceed 10 pages.
Accepted works have to be presented as posters of A1 format: 841mm (height) x 594mm (width). For more instructions please refer to the Conference page.


TERMS OF REGISTRATION


Accepted applicants will be invited to register to the school.

Registration fee of 210 euro (8400 rub) will be charged during the registration unless the applicant was given a grant. The registration procedures are conducted via Monomax agency .


CANCELLATION POLICY


Cancellations made before 15 July 2011 are the subjects for a full refund with the exception of 7% of the total cost reserved for banking transfers. No refund will be issued for cancellations after 15 July 2011.


TERMS OF PARTICIPATION


The participants are supposed to stay for the whole course of the school. By submitting an application, applicants agree to school rules and conditions.
