Young Scientists Conference

Young Scientists Conference in Information Retrieval will be co-organized with the school.

The conference is aimed at:

• Support and intensification of the research in the field of Information Retrieval in Russia;
• Creation of the young scientists community in the field of Information Retrieval, broadening the network of the interuniversity relations between researchers working in this field;
• Helping young scientists in mastering public scientific speaking at the conferences and workshops, discussing works with participation of the specialists in Information Retrieval.

Graduate and postgraduate students, young researchers from academia and industry (under 27 years old), working in the field of Information Retrieval are welcome to participate in the conference.

General topics of the conference:

• Theory and models of Information Retrieval
• Algorithms and data structures for Information Retrieval
• Text Information Retrieval
• Multimedia search
• Text processing in Information Retrieval tasks
• User interfaces for Information Retrieval
• Web search
• Fact extraction, text mining
• Methods of the Information Retrieval evaluation and others.

Papers should be submitted in Russian or English and should not exceed 15 A5 pages (see MS Word template).

Submission page is in Russian. If you have trouble reading it please submit your paper along with your personal data directly to: russir[dash]session[at]googlegroups[dot]com.

All the submitted papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee with the assistance of external reviewers.

The authors of the selected papers will be invited to the conference to present their work in oral or poster sessions. We also plan to publish the proceedings of the conference.

Important dates:

• 9^th June 2008: Paper submission deadline (extended)
• 1^st July 2008: Notification of acceptance
• 1^st August: Camera-ready papers due

Participation in the conference is not a requirement for the participation in the 2nd Russian Summer School in Information Retrieval. Organizers established a limited number of grants to cover travel or/and accommodation expenses of the school participants. The authors of the papers selected for the conference will have preferences when considering grant applications.
