About the School
The 2nd Russian Summer School in Information Retrieval (RuSSIR) is initiated in order to make students familiar with a wide range of modern problems and methods in Information Retrieval; to stimulate scientific research in the field of Information Retrieval and to create an environment for informal contacts among scientists, students, and industry professionals.
The first RuSSIR took place in Ekaterinburg, Russia in September 2007, attracted more than 60 participants and was a big success.
The main audience of the school is graduate and post-graduate students, young scientists and professionals who have experience in development of information retrieval applications. The participants are expected to know basics of mathematics and computer science at university program level and have general understanding of problems and methods in Information Retrieval. The school will host approximately 100 participants. The official languages of the school are Russian and English.
The school will be held in Taganrog, Russia on the premises of the Taganrog Technological Institute of Southern Federal University.
14.11.2008 RuSSIR2009 site is up. The school will be held in Petrozavodsk September 11-16, 2009.

28.08.2008 There will be two shuttles for RuSSIR participants from Rostov airport to Taganrog Hotel on 31 August at 12.30 and 17.00 (see Travel section).
28.08.2008 Orginizers confirm that there will be free wireless Internet access provided for RuSSIR participants at TTI SFU.
21.08.2008 Conference program is online, new information is added to Travel section, schedule of RuSSIR2008 social events is published.
23.06.2008 Selection process is completed. Preliminary school schedule is published.
05.06.2008 Registration for the school is closed. Taking into account several requests from potential school and conference participants, Program Committee is ready to consider highly motivated applications sent by email by June 10, 2008.
03.06.2008 Conference submission deadline is extended to midday June 9, 2008 (Moscow time, GMT+3).
30.05.2008 Reminder: School and conference application deadline is June 1, 2008.
26.05.2008 Unfortunately, the Organizing Committee couldn't make the final decision about RuSSIR grants today. We will notify all the applicants about selection results tomorrow, 27.05.2008.
19.05.2008 Grant application closed.
